Please use the “contact” link to send us your take on these and other conspiracies, including the death of Princess Diana.

JFK

Here’s how the death of President John F. Kennedy is described in the pages of Paris ‘97

Baxter sipped his coffee. “You know, aging makes life tougher. You feel you’ve got less energy, so you’ve got to make more of an effort. But today I’m back in the saddle.” He grinned happily. “I haven’t felt this way since the days when I covered JFK.”

“My father claims there was never a conspiracy behind Kennedy’s death. I’m not so sure about that. Dad said the Warren Commission concluded it was a lone gunman who killed him. Lee Harvey Oswald, a psycho drifter with a Russian-born wife. Oswald went up into the Texas Book Depository and shot Kennedy from a window, using a high-powered rifle.”

“In 1976,” said Baxter, “the House Select Committee re-examined all the evidence and concluded that a conspiracy of some sort seemed likely. Using new technology they conducted a detailed study of the acoustic recordings of gunshots heard in Dealey Plaza and concluded that two separate guns were fired at the time of the President’s death. The Committee said there was a high probability that a second gunman fired at Kennedy from a nearby grassy knoll but missed. That means there was a conspiracy and Oswald was probably set up as a stooge to take the fall. Don’t forget he was very quickly eliminated himself. Shot to death by Jack Ruby, permanently silenced.”

“I read that the Warren Commission never called Ruby as a witness even though he asked to be questioned.”

Marilyn Monroe

Here’s how Paris ’97 deals with the death of screen legend Marilyn Monroe

As we walked together through the night, looking for an interesting bar, I wondered aloud about talking to the police about ABC Export Import but Baxter shook his head. “I wouldn’t,” he said. “Suppose we called in the gendarmes and they did investigate. Either they’d screw it up, or they’d uncover something with political ramifications and they’d cover it up.”

“You’re quite the cynic, Baxter.”

“Ever heard of Bilderberg Group?”

“Yes, but I can’t remember the context.”

“That’s exactly what they want. I’ll try again. Why did Marilyn Monroe die?”

“An accidental overdose. My wife Monroe was named for her, so I have a particular interest.”

“What’s the proof she died of an overdose?”

I shrugged. “That I wouldn’t know, but I’m sure the authorities figured it out.”

“The authorities, huh!”

I smiled. “You sound just like O’Connor. Anyway, what makes you think it wasn’t suicide?”

“No water glass was found beside the bed. She’d need water to swallow pills.”

“That’s true.”

“Trevor and I have studied this one closely. Marilyn’s body was discovered neatly arranged on the bed. That doesn’t happen with suicides.”
